Begun in 1927, St. Mary of the Woods promotes the ideals of Christian community through the recognition that each person is given the manifestation of the Spirit of the common good.

We believe in fostering spiritual growth through scripture, the  sacraments and through the use of each person's gifts in our family.

One Big Family

The Supreme Court case Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization could impact the fate of millions of preborn children and their mothers. Arguments will begin to be heard by the Supreme Court on December 1.

During the month of November, each rosary we pray before Mass in the parishes will have the Dobbs case as its special intention. We will also say the rosary on Thursday at 5:45, before the 6:15 pm Mass. Additionally  Eucharistic  Adoration each Thursday during November will be offered for this case and the protection of the unborn life.

Visit prayfordobbs.com for more information.

Pray for Dobbs

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is beginning a new phase of planning for the future. The goal is to help our parishes to be 'Beacons of Light' that are vibrant and effective in bringing the Gospel to the world. The planning will also require us to adapt to a projected decline in the number of pastors available to serve our parishes in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Beacons of Light

The Year of St. Joseph

Archbishop Schnurr has designated the following parishes to serve as temporary shrines during the Year of St. Joseph: St. Joseph, North Bend; St. Joseph, Dayton; and St. Joseph, Wapakoneta.

A pious visit to one of these churches during this holy year is an occasion for receiving a plenary indulgence for those who recite an Our Father and the Creed, along with fulfillment of the other requirements for obtaining an indulgence (prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father, sacramental confession, and reception of Holy Communion).

Please visit the parishes’ websites to see church visiting hours and any possible devotional activities:

The Year of St. Joseph

The Holy Father has called a synod inviting ALL the Baptized to come together to discuss and discern how we can walk together in accomplishing the Mission of the Church. He wants ALL those who make up the Church to participate: elderly, youth, religious orders, clergy, lay faithful, poor, disabled, divorced, migrants, those who no longer practice the faith, etc. More will be coming on how this is going to be accomplished at the local level, and what the discussion themes will be. In the meantime, please give participating in this first phase of the synod some prayerful thought. The Holy Father and the Holy Spirit value your input! Questions? Please feel free to contact Deacon John Homoelle at jhomoelle@catholicaoc.org.
