Rosary at the Logan County Courthouse

Saturday, October 17th 2020

Logan County Courthouse, Bellefontaine, Ohio.

at 3:00 p.m.

Join the 2020 Public Square Rosary Crusade!!!!!

America is at a historic crossroad. God is more offended than ever as people ignore Our Lady’s maternal request to “stop offending God.” As a result, America is suffering from a pandemic, rioting, looting and murder, as well as moral and societal collapse. It is urgent that we heed Our Lady’s request and stop sinning if we hope to enjoy God’s blessings and to avert His wrath. He will hear us, if we pray through the intercession of His Blessed Mother. That’s why we’re doing the 2020 Public Square Rosary Crusade.

In The Secret of the Rosary, Saint Louis de Montfort said: “Public prayer is far more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of and call down His mercy, and Holy Mother Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering.”

Eucharistic Procession & Family Fun Day

Mark your calendars now for our Eucharistic Procession from St. Mary of the Woods Church to the Fatima Shrine! You will not want to miss this event! We will have free food, games, activities for kids, and music at the shrine following the procession.

The American Society of Ephesus has generously provided a grant to cover all expenses for the Family Fun Day.

Eucharistic processions are a powerful way to witness to our faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. If Christ is truly present in the Eucharist, then why would we not process through the streets with Our lord? There are tremendous graces that flow from a Eucharistic procession. In Scripture, we hear that great crowds gathered around Christ when He entered towns, and “power went forth" from Him (Mk 5:30). Imagine how many graces will come forth from Our Lord for the people of Russell's Point!

If you have never been part of a Eucharistic procession, it is an exciting way to invigorate your faith and to witness outside the walls of the church. Now is your chance - join us with your family and friends!

In case of rain, Fun Day will be held in the Church Hall.

Our faith formation program will be seeing some significant and exciting changes in the coming year! We will be transitioning from the traditional classroom approach which many of us received as children, and which has been the standard at parishes across the country for quite some time, to a whole-family catechesis model called “A Family of Faith” from Sophia Press.

We are embarking on this new journey for several reasons. Foremost, it is the vision of the Church that the faith be actively passed on in the home, and that parents act as the first educators of their children in the truths of the faith. This new program will equip parents to fully embrace their role as primary educators of their children’s Catholic faith.

There will be many changes, much of which will be most easily learned by doing. However, here are some of the important points that will help us get up and rolling:

FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION: These classes (2nd Grade, and 7th and 8th Grade) will meet weekly this year, as usual. Confirmation and First Communion students will attend with their families once a month on Community Meeting days.

HIGH SCHOOL: These classes will also meet weekly, as usual, and will begin on September 20.

Schedule: "A Family of Faith," sacramental prep, and high school will meet from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Please note the earlier dismissal time.

HOW IT WORKS: The first meeting of the month is for parents, who will themselves receive formation in the information they will subsequently teach their children. Between meetings, parents teach 2 lessons to their children, choosing from a wealth of activities which will be provided. At the end of the month, the whole family attends for a Community Meeting. This allows us to review what we have learned, and make important connections with the other families in the program through activities which strengthen our bond with one another in Christ.

Please Contact the office if you did not receive any forms.

FROM 6:30 - 8:00 PM.
This is the only meeting that will be held in the evening.
Please contact Ashley (ashleyroberts.dre@gmail.com) with any questions.

Visit sophiainstituteforteachers.org for more information on “A Family of Faith” from Sophia Press (see bottom of page).

24 Hour Eucharistic Adoration

July 24th-25th, 2020

On Friday and Saturday, July 24th and 25th, our parishes will be holding 24 hours of Eucharistic adoration to ask God's blessing and help for our country.

Adoration will be held at St. Patrick's. Exposition will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday the 24th, go through the night, and most of the day on Saturday. Each hour will begin with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

The closing will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday the 25th. We will pray the Chaplet at 3:00 PM; the Rosary at 3:15 PM; and benediction will follow, concluding before the 4:00 PM Mass.

Our greatest potential for helping our country is becoming more holy ourselves; and coming to pray before Our Lord is incredibly effective in this regard. Our prayers for others--that all our brothers and sisters would find peace, healing, and above all, a deep relationship with Christ--are particularly effective when made in His Presence as well.

Your visit can be for any length of time; even a few minutes. It is not necessary that your prayers be restricted to the current affairs of our country--just remember the nation at some point while you're there!

We need two adorers per one-hour time slot. To this end, there will be a clipboard available after each of the weekend Masses for interested people to sign up until each hour is covered. However, this is only to be sure someone is always with Our Lord--anyone is welcome at any time!

If you are unable to participate, please consider praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at the top of any hour during this 24-hour period.

Please contact the parish office with any questions.

Eucharistic adoration is a beautiful act of worship, a consolation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a powerful avenue for personal sanctification, and bears much fruit for our community, our nation, and our world. Please make every effort to find some moment in these 24 hours to come visit Our Lord!

Summer Adult Education Classes

Friday, June 5th 2020

Summer Adult Education Classes

The summer adult ed class will begin again on Friday, June 5. This class is held on Friday mornings at St. Mary of the Woods, after the 8:00 AM Mass. In the previous 3 summers, we have covered the first three sections of the Catechism. This year, we will look at the last section of the Catechism--Christian Prayer--as it is exemplified in the life and writing of St. Therese. As a Doctor of the Church, St. Therese is regarded as an exceptional teacher of the universal Church, whose insight into the divine truths is specially recommended for all the faithful. Though rightly assigned a place among intellectual giants and theological masters, it is the depth of her love and confidence in God, lived out through fidelity in whatever task God put before her, which makes her loved and approached by so many throughout the world.

If you have not already done so, please contact Ashley Roberts at 937-843-3127 or ashleyroberts.dre@gmail.com, to let her know you are interested, and to get ordering information for the book we will be using. It is not necessary to have attended in previous summers.

Sunday, March 29th 2020

Dear Jim and Charity Thiel,

I heard that the States has the highest cases of coronavirus in the world. It is really a scary time.  I hope this email will find you both and your family very well.  I pray for you, your family and for the American people.

I am sorry that you had to cancel your trip to Haiti with Linda due to coronavirus outbreak.  Linda wired me the $3000 that you got from your parish for my orphanage. On behalf of all my orphaned kids, the staff of the orphanage and myself, I thank you very much for your love and your hard work for my kids. Please give our gratitude or our thanks to all the parishioners of your parish for their generosity. Please tell them they will be present our daily prayers because my kids pray for their benefactors at each meal they have.

We are experiencing a scary time in Haiti.  When we heard the great number of people who are  killed by coronavirus in Italy we are very afraid of what may or will happen in Haiti soon if God does not make a miracle.  We are praying a lot despite the doors of the Churches are closed.

At the orphanage we teach the kids to wash their hands very often.  We teach other principles of hygiene as well. The kids are allowed to be only around of their residence.  We do not allow visitors to come to see them. We stop the cooks from going to the informal market.  We buy everything for them. Thanks to your generous financial assistance and that of your parish, I bought food for one and half month  for the orphaned kids despite the cost of the food becomes very high. Furthermore, there is already shortage or black market about food.  Please keep us in your prayers as we do for the American people.

Bye for now.  Let us continue to pray for each other.  Have a good weekend

With love and prayers,

Fr. Andre Sylvestre
